Household Battery Recycling Program - Service Temporarily Closed
Share This:
Due to fire liability issues the Jay County Solid Waste Management District has temporarily stopped all household battery recycling at the this time. All off site battery recycling containers have been removed and will not be replaced. We are working on plans to restart the program at the District office only in the near future. We must abide by all regulations and safety practices for a safe and responsible recycling program. There will be numerous changes that will need to be met before we can reinstate the program. Please be patient while we try to revamp our program to meet all of the requirements. Please hold all of your batteries at this time. One change we know of at this point is every battery brought in to be recycled must have all metal contacts taped as not to make contact with any other metal surface. You may use any type of non-paper tape such as electrical tape or just clear scotch tape. We know this is going to be a challenge but this is a guideline we must follow in order to safely accept batteries. Sorry for the inconvenience.
